The Life of an Egg

I am addicted to Flamin Hot Cheetos, goat cheese, rainbow sherbet, and hummus. I want to meet Paul Farmer. I can't touch library books because they smell. I have a tattoo of the tree of life on my back. I have a problem with picking at my nails when I'm nervous, stressed out, or bored. I am irrationally proud of being from California. One of my main goals in life is to be a good person. And finally, please don't ask for medical advice, especially if it involves any sort of discharge.

already a year

Tomorrow is my last overnight call in the hospital as an intern! I can't believe how fast this year has gone.

Ironically, my previous post was about a patient that was discharged from the hospital after being there for 6 months... this past week, this patient had to be re-admitted to our intensive care unit. I'm not sure of the details, but it sounds like a huge miscommunication occured about the multiple medications that the patient was supposed to take. I worked so hard to make sure the patient's transition for home went smoothly, but obviously it didn't. I feel responsible for not making sure that the parents understood exactly what their responsibilities were going to be at home, despite the fact that they were going to have home nursing help. I feel defeated.

A friend of ours is leaving Chicago in a couple days, for Seattle. We're meeting up at an Ethiopian restaurant called Ras Dashen. Several months ago, we went to Ethiopian Diamond and I loved it, so I'm looking forward to a similar experience!
