The Life of an Egg

"In every child who is born, under no matter what circumstances, and of no matter what parents, the potentiality of the human race is born again." -J.Agee

Location: Los Angeles, California

I am addicted to Flamin Hot Cheetos, goat cheese, rainbow sherbet, and hummus. I want to meet Paul Farmer. I can't touch library books because they smell. I have a tattoo of the tree of life on my back. I have a problem with picking at my nails when I'm nervous, stressed out, or bored. I am irrationally proud of being from California. One of my main goals in life is to be a good person. And finally, please don't ask for medical advice, especially if it involves any sort of discharge.

a golden weekend

Thursday night I had the worst call ever. I literally spent 8 hours dealing with a patient who became suicidal and trying to get this medically-complex patient transferred to a psychiatric hospital, better-equipped to handle him than we were. It was one of the most frustrating experiences of my residency.

Luckily, this was my golden weekend. (meaning that I got two days off in a ROW!) woohoo.

Friday night, we went to Quartino for Armand's off-service dinner. They have the best gnocchi!

Saturday morning, we went to a baby shower brunch for a co-resident and his wife. Here I am examining a warm and fuzzy "bundleme."

We had fruit, bagels and lox, and a wonderful egg/potato frittata, accompanied by mimosas. Dance Dance Revolution had just been whipped out when we had to leave early to go see the Maps exhibit at the Field Museum.

It was the second-to-last day and totally sold-out. We paid extra to get the audio tour, which was well worth it. Museum Campus has one of the best views in the city:

Then Saturday evening, we attended the Third Annual Robert Burns night at Matt's place! With haggis and whiskey. I got embarassed this year and didn't read my favorite poem "Cock Up Your Beaver" but maybe next year...

Sunday was spent doing laundry and dishes and addressing our save-the-date magnets!
